My Story

I Was Told It Wouldn’t Sell.
So naturally, I published it myself.
I spent twelve years in publishing before becoming an author, which means I knew exactly how this was supposed to work...and exactly how often it doesn’t. When traditional publishers told me my first novel was good but too niche to sell, I decided to prove them wrong.
I did. I sold 1,000 copies of Charlotte Collins in four months and two days.
Then the publisher rejected it anyway.
Turns out, I liked being my own publisher much better.
So I kept going. I founded Whiteley Press, wrote more books, edited a few along the way, and discovered that the best part of publishing your own stories is getting to decide what comes next.
These days, I write stories with wit, mystery, slow-burn romance, Austen, and the occasional terrible decision. I live near Charlotte, North Carolina, with my husband, Bert, and an alarming number of books.
I remain happily incapable of staying in just one literary lane.
Thank you for reading!
